Day 1-2 in Chicago on business
So the really cool thing about my new job is that I get to travel!!! I'm in Chicago for the week on training, a city I've only driven through before. Although it stinks being away from my family for an entire week for the first time, I have made the most of it. I went to a Steelers bar in downtown on Sunday night to watch the Steelers-Browns game with my fellow fans, and the remainder of the week will involve some fun events with the 67 other new employees of my new company. Anyone have any suggestions on where to go in downtown on Wednesday night? I would go see the Cubbies, but I don't think I can afford scalper prices, especially with them being on top and just pitching a no-hitter the other night. | | Thursday, September 11th, 2008 | | 11:59 pm |

Dada!
Mark it down. Today, I was watching my son on the changing table while my wife was getting ready to go out. He looked at me with that mischievious smile he has and said, "Da-Da!" I gasped and ran to the bathroom to tell my wife, but she was brushing her teeth with the bathroom fan on, so I knew she couldn't hear me. I decided to wait until she was done to tell her, so I went back to my son. Then he looked at me and said it again. "Da-Da!" This was no fluke. I melted. | | Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 | | 11:56 pm |
FRFF Hiatus yet again this year...
My friends list is going to be practically dead next week. Mainly due to the fact that I have a 10-week old son to take care of this year, I won't be making the trip up. So sad to have to miss it two years in a row. However, I have made plans for next year staying off-site at a hotel so that we don't have to deal with camping with a 1-year old. Plus, we'll be camping with the Worlds and their kids! Camp Baby 2009 represent! Everyone, have lots of fun, take lots of pictures, and film lots of movies. I need to live it through you guys! | | Sunday, July 13th, 2008 | | 11:13 pm |
Set up Danny's crib today!
This morning, we bid adieu to his basinet, which Danny barely used in the first place. But, this week has been a real breakthrough. He's starting to sleep at night, I've found a routine with him to get him to sleep which involves putting him in the swing until he fusses a little bit, then putting him in the bouncy seat, and bouncing him to sleep. The real test will be putting him in the crib tonight and seeing if we can actually get through the night soon! He's also smiling a LOT more, and noticing the floating animals in front of him. He loves being sung to, and also loves copying our facial expressions. He's really becoming a lot of fun now! I love showing him off. I'm one proud papa. | | Sunday, June 29th, 2008 | | 7:51 pm |

More about being a new daddy...
Some nights are rougher than others, but it is getting better. Bless his mommy for staying up with him all night with the feeding and changing so I can get enough sleep for work. In a drastic change though, I've been doing all the cooking, something I never did. And I don't think I'm doing that bad of a job! Thank God for easy recipes. His face is starting to take the shape of a unique person rather than the generic alien face of a newborn. I can't wait to see what he looks like! Eventually I'll be learning how to change his diaper, but I have been feeding him from time to time with bottles. Anything to give the wife a break. It's been exciting so far, even though all he does is eat, sleep, and cry. However, those few moments when he's alert with his eyes wide open are absolutely precious. | | Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 | | 12:31 am |
Baby's home, and boy is he hungry...
Little Danny just won't quit! Every 2-3 hours, he's fussing again, wanting his early dinner, late dinner, midnight snack, whatever you want to call it. It's our first night home with him, and now I know why everyone has warned me about never getting any sleep!!! Current Mood: sleepy | | Thursday, May 1st, 2008 | | 11:01 pm |

Baby? Not just yet...
After about 36 hours of induction, no food and uncomfortable beds, the doctors decided to send my wife home. We'll have to wait until labor starts for real naturally. UGH! | | Tuesday, April 29th, 2008 | | 7:27 pm |
Baby update...
No baby yet. Still working on getting into full blown labor. It has REALLY sucked for Jenna so far in terms of being uncomfortable and without food since 1 PM Monday. Keep us in your thoughts! | | Monday, April 28th, 2008 | | 11:19 pm |

Haha... My Pirates stink!
Pirates Somehow 0-8 Before Season Even Starts Through a bizarre set of circumstances, the Pittsburgh Pirates managed to reach Opening Day with a losing record, even though no games have been played yet. The 0-8 Pirates begin the 2008 season 8 games out of first place, trailing the Cubs, Cardinals, Brewers, Astros, and Reds, who all share 0-0 records. "I have no idea how this happened," said new manager John Russell, who is at the helm of a team that finished 68-94 last year. "I thought it would take at least a week for us to lose 8 games." "Usually, a team can't lose games that haven't been played," said Penn State University physicist Dr. Liam Johansson. "But I believe that somehow, the Pirates' total lack of baseball skill has managed to create what I call a "Vortex of Sh**ttiness' in the time-space continuum, and they're drawing losses from a pocket dimension. It's also possible that some of last year's losses carried over into this season via a subspace wormhole. But it remains undeniable -- their on-field bungling somehow transcends physics, mathematics, and the rest of the known universe." Some believe the reality-defying losses are the results of front office mismanagement, an accusation that team officials deny. "I'm utterly shocked at these accusations," said team president/excessive drooler Frank Coonelly. We've made some great moves last year, getting rid of talent less Jeromy Burnitz hacks like , Jody Gerut and, and bringing in.....well, nobody in particular....but still, addition by subtraction right? "And we've brought up some good youngsters," added Coonelly. "There are some great kids on the roster, like ...what's-his-name.. .and the other one. Did I mention that we have a fairly-nice new stadium?" Regardless of the reasons behind the teams 0-8 pre-start, Coonelly has vowed to take up the issue with MLB. "Okay, maybe we're not the top contender this year, but still, can't they somehow fix this? I mean, there's no way we're as bad as the Kansas City Royals." When reminded that the Royals had a better record last season, and the Royals had taken several steps to improve their ball club this year, Coonelly grabbed a revolver and proceeded to shoot himself in the foot. However, despite the Pirate's protests, the commissioner's office stated there will be no investigation. "I'm sorry, but those losses are on the record," said commissioner/made man Bud Selig. "This is an unfortunate occurrence, to be sure. If this happened to the Yankees, or Red Sox or even the Phillies, we would take the necessary steps to correct the problem. But come on, it's the friggin' Pirates. No one really gives a rat's *ss about them anyway, so let's just move on. Pirate fans were busy buying 100 million dollar man Ben Roethlisberger jerseys and looking forward to the 2008 season to start and were unavailable for comment. | | Sunday, March 16th, 2008 | | 10:26 pm |
John Gorka performs on 4/27 at my church
Attention friends of mine from my Moxy Fruvous/Falcon Ridge circles... The church where I sing at for a 2nd job is hosting John Gorka for a benefit concert in Colonia, NJ at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. John Gorka used to be a parishiner at the church and headed up a folk group that performs during mass back in the 70s, a group that still exists today. Tickets are $25 and are only available through the church. I probably won't be going, but if you're interested, send me a message. | | Thursday, February 14th, 2008 | | 1:59 pm |
